Use "user informations" in the layout

Hi,
I would like to access to user informations in order ton customize the dashboard (name, custom field, …)
Something like this for example.

So I tried to modify the layout.php view to add the $user but it does not work. Do you think there is a possibility to do something like this or it has to be a feature in the 2.0 version ?

P.S : Thank you for your app, I tried some app but no one was as user friendly and as simple like yours :wink:

V2 should be released summer 2015 if we finish development until this point.
