Recurring invoice number increments invoice_id and not invoice_number

I don’t know if it’s a feature or a bug, but I’d prefer recurrent invoices to increment invoice_number and not use the new invoice_id as the new invoice_number. Is it possible?, or is there a simple patch to achieve this?
