Set default Product group

I have 2 requests.

I have a bunch of products that are currently “inactive” but I still see them. I would like to hide them somehow.
My thought is 2 ways to do this:

  1. Add the ability in the product edit page to mark product as inactive which in turn would hide it from the list in the invoice area.

  2. Set the default product group when choosing a product. Currently it defaults to “All” but I am thinking, I could add a new group called “Inactive” and add all the products to that group that I do not need to see right now. Then set the default invoice group to be “active” group which all the active products would be assigned to.
