I’m going further with this:

Single installation with multiple instances.

I think this could be useful if someone want to resell IP, so in this way could concentrate the maintenance on a single installation.

Maybe this could be a “premium addon” so who earn money reselling IP could help the development giving something back.

As you suggested this could be something like a plugin or a tool but it will not be integrated in the core I think.
